The licensing process for lawyer candidates ("candidates") consists of two mandatory requirements:
- Licensing Examinations: including a Barrister and a Solicitor examination
- Articling term (10 months), including completion of an online Professional Responsibility and Practice ("PRP") Course,
This fee will cover the examination reference materials, one sitting of each of the two Licensing Examinations, access to and use of all articling and other Licensing Process supports available on the e-Learning Site as well as access to Law Society staff who provide support during the process. This fee does not include the call to the bar fee.
You must successfully complete all mandatory components, submit all required documents and pay all required fees in order to be eligible to be called to the bar.
Prerequisites for Application to the Licensing Process
The Law Society's Office of the Registrar is located in Osgoode Hall, at 130 Queen Street West, Toronto. The Office of the Registrar is located on the second floor and visitors are required to check in at the Law Society's Security Desk at the main East Entrance. The office is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please contact us if you have any questions.
