Potential clients phone the Lawyer Referral Service looking to be put in touch with a lawyer to assist them with their legal issue.
The service is heavily promoted through mail-outs, advertising campaigns,
Yellow Pages listings and "on the Law Society's website."
Here's how it works:
- Potential client phones the toll free line — 1-800-268-8326, or 416-947-3330 from within the GTA
- Caller is advised that legal work and second opinions are not covered by the consultation
- LRS representative takes caller details (name, phone number, area of law, geographic location)
- A free consultation by phone or in person of up to 30 minutes is then given by the referred lawyer
Please note that members on the service are referred on a rotational basis to ensure fairness
Join the Lawyer Referral Service
To join the LRS, download the application form and return it with the
LRS membership fee of $282.50 (including applicable taxes). New applicants who
sign on to the LRS service after January 31 will have their LRS fee
pro-rated monthly. More fee information is included with the application
form.

By joining the LRS, you agree to provide callers up to a half-hour free consultation to advise how the law may apply to their situation and to determine if they have a legal problem that requires a lawyer.
